Malaysia, June 12, 2024 – Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) Graduate School Education, in collaboration with the Center for International Affairs and Linkages, joined forces with Pertubuhan Pemuda GEMA Malaysia (GEMA Youth) to support Rohingya Refugee Children through the PagamUmmah Beyond PH: International Community Immersion and Social Action initiative. This program took place at Maahad Tahfiz Madinatul Ulum, Sri Kembangan, Selangor, Malaysia.<\/p>\n
As part of CMC’s International Academic and Cultural Exchange (I ACE) Program in Malaysia, a delegation comprising 18 CMC administrators, Graduate School students, and staff dedicated their time to engage with refugee children. Their activities included facilitating numeracy and literacy programs organized by GEMA Youth under the Pusat Tuisyen Ikhlas Project.<\/p>\n
Prior to the visit, GEMA Youth, led by President Mohammad Amar bin Masuri, conducted a comprehensive needs assessment within the community. This assessment guided the purchase and donation of essential supplies, including food and appliances, tailored to the children’s requirements.<\/p>\n
“We are proud to partner with GEMA Youth in this meaningful endeavor, demonstrating our commitment to global citizenship and community service,” stated Dr. Mark Gennesis Dela Cerna, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Central Mindanao Colleges. “Through initiatives like this, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of Rohingya refugee children, promoting education as a catalyst for empowerment.”<\/p>\n
This collaborative effort coincides with the observance of World Refugee Day and Eid\u2019l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) in solidarity with Muslim communities.<\/p>\n
